Mindy SterlingEverybody knows somebody affected by Cancer. My mom is a Breast Cancer survivor and I'm so grateful she is here today helping people who have been recently diagnosed, much like character actress Mindy Sterling, who's best known for playing "Frau Farbissina" in the Austin Powers trilogy.

Mindy, who was Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's 2011 "Woman of the Year," is currently in the middle of a 10-week challenge trying to raise as much money as possible for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The campaign challenge runs through June 3. Let's help Mindy win this challenge by clicking here and donating to her page!

1. You, yourself, are a Breast Cancer survivor. Now, you are in the middle of a 10-week challenge to raise as much money as possible for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, which helps combat blood cancers. The person who raises the most money, gets the title of "Man or Woman of the Year" from the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. You won this title in 2011. Why do you want to win it again? What does winning this title mean to you? It was such an honor to win. I put my heart and soul into it. Everyone was so gracious and generous. I want to keep helping. Because I have had Cancer, I know whats it's like on your body, your mental health and your family. This is a way I can still be part of someone else's efforts in helping them win the title. I am not up for the title again but I can tag along side of them and continue to raise money.

Mindy Sterling and her son Max2. Why should people donate to your campaign as opposed to someone else's? What will you do as Woman of the Year that someone else would not? By being a part of this campaign it gives you awareness of the how this organization is making huge strides and there are many people who are living with LLS on meds that help them to survive in a healthy manner. To see a kid being attacked by this disease is heartbreaking. And everyone has family a member or a friend that has suffered by this illness.

3. As a Breast Cancer survivor, what made you want to team up with Leukemia & Lymphoma Society as opposed to a Breast Cancer organization? It just happened. My friend Tim Hooten, who is a LLS survivor because of drugs came to me and asked if I would like to do it. At that time I was going through a divorce and needed something to get involved in. This was a gift for me. I took it 100% and was up for the challenge. My son didn't think I could win. Well I showed him!!!

4. Let's go back to when you were diagnosed with Breast Cancer. How did you find out you had Breast Cancer? From your diagnosis, what advice do you give to other women? A routine exam in 1997. I was devastated. I had a lumpectomy and radiation. Six months later I had a lump in my right breast. Another lumpectomy, radiation and chemo. I got involved in a support group and talked to people at the chemo cocktail lounge (what we called it). I wanted to talk and share and relate. I highly recommend that. Don't keep it to yourself. You need to cry and laugh and talk. I kept very busy. The second Austin Powers was coming out and I hired a PR person. I did radio interviews, performed improv and The Groundlings. I was a mom and I just wanted to go back to my normal life.

5. What were the first few initial thoughts that went through your head when you found out you had Breast Cancer? How long after these initial thoughts were you able to focus on getting better? That I was going to die. I was scared to death. My son was young at the time and all I could think about was not being a part of his life. Once I started with chemo and realized that I could maintain a life and still laugh and work and wasn't bed ridden, my mantra was "this is only temporary."

6. What did you learn about yourself from surviving Breast Cancer? How loved I was. How strong I was. How I wanted to help other people who needed to talk. Getting involved with LLS helps me a lot.

7. On "Call Me Adam" I have a section called One Percent Better, where through my own fitness commitment, I try to encourage people to improve their own life by one percent every day. What is something in your life that you want to improve by one percent better every day? Only 1 thing? Oh my....To be grateful for what I have. To take advantage of all that comes to me. To not be so hard on myself. Forgive myself.

Mindy Sterling as "Frau Farbissina" in the "Austin Powers" films8. Did getting diagnosed with Breast Cancer affect your career at all or did it make you change the kind of roles you go out for? I don't think it affected my career at all. I'm a character actress so I go out on all sorts of stuff.

9. Who or what inspired you to become an actress? My dad was an actor/singer performer. I was shy as a child. I realized I could play someone else and that made me comfortable.

10. You've had such a long career in film and television. You have guest starred on four of my favorite shows, Saved By The Bell: The College Years, Ellen, Desperate Housewives, and 2 Broke Girls. What are behind-the-scenes stories you can share from your time guest starring on each of these shows? Saved By The Bell??? Really?????  Don't recall any memorable moments on that. Desperate Housewives, the men were incredibly sweet. More engaging then the women. So many stories I could share but that's not nice Adam!!!!!
