Call Answered: As a former stand-up comedian myself, I'm always intrigued by other comics. When British comedian Josie Long's show "Something Better" was presented to me, I had to find out more, especially while living in this post-election apocalypse, I am constantly looking for "Something Better" to focus on. Josie's show, "Something Better," will be playing throughout London this February and March!
Call Answered: When I heard about British satirist Melinda Hughes' new Weimar cabaret show "Cheers Darling," an evening of songs about the special relationship between the UK & the US, I knew I had to call her to find out more. Much to my delight, Melinda answered & we got to chatting about politics, selfies, & Donald Trump. "Cheers Darling" will play at The Metropolitan Room in NYC on Wednesday, 1/18 at 7pm & Friday, 1/20 at 9:30pm!
Call Answered: One great thing about theatre is seeing all the ways a show can be mounted. When I heard The Bridge Production Group was presenting a bold & bloody production of Shakespeare's "Richard III," I thought I would take a closer look. I called, and The Bridge Production Group's Artistic Director, Max Hunter, answered. So, we sat down to discuss this new telling of a classic show. "Richard III" plays Fourth Street Theatre in NYC from November 9-27!
Call Answered: The hills are alive with the sound of Heil Hitler! I have always loved "The Sound of Music." The one part of the film I never cared for was the "Von Trapp's" being chased by the Nazi's. When I heard about Andrew Bergh's show "The Radicalization of Rolfe," a new play inspired by the character of "Rolfe" & his climb thru the Third Reich while incorporating the questioning of "Rolfe's" sexuality, I was very intrigued. "The Radicalization of Rolfe" plays SoHo Playhouse 10/23-29!
Call Redialed: I was so inspired by my 2014 interview with Karen Finley that I jumped at this new opportunity to speak with Karen about her new show "Karen Finley: Unicorn Gratitude Mystery" which plays The Laurie Beechman Theatre in NYC from July 31-August 21. In this show, Karen humorously explores America's obsession with the imagined, unattainable white-horned mythical creature. Karen & I dive deep into the creation of the show discussing gratitude, fear, life's mysteries, & improving her life by one percent better!
