Call Redialed: I have been a fan of Alec Mapa since 2001 when he appeared on CBS' "Some of My Best Friends." Since then, Alec has entertained me on "Ugly Betty," "Desperate Housewives," and now "Devious Maids" as well as his one man shows "I Remember Mapa" and "Baby Daddy" both at The Laurie Beechman Theatre. Now, Alec is returning to The Laurie Beechman Theatre with his debut holiday show "A Holiday In Alec Mapa" on December 11 & 12! This rare night of stand-up comedy is not to be missed!
Call Answered Again: "Call Me Adam" once again chats with actor and comedian Alec Mapa. This time around we discuss the revival of his one-man show "I Remember Mapa," which recounts Alec's experiences in film, television and performing in the original Broadway cast of "M. Butterfly." It is the comic journey of a gay Filipino American actor struggling for work, love and acceptance that examines the role of Asian American actors in American culture. The piece also touches on his humorous and moving recollections of his mother. "I Remember Mapa" plays on Saturday, October 11 at Baruch Performing Arts Center in NYC!
