All in Film/Motion Picture/Movie
Adam's Call: This past July I attended Liz Callaway's concert, "The Beat Goes On" at Feinstein's/54 Below. Over a month later, I'm still thinking about this magical evening! Liz's show was a master class in music, singing, & cabaret! Liz took us on a musical journey of the 1960s & I was mesmerized from start to finish! If Liz were a baseball player, she hit a home run with every song! Liz will be returning to Feinstein's/54 Below with "The Beat Goes On" Sun, 9/10 7pm!
Adam's Call: Two weeks ago I got to attend Michael Feinstein's "Showstoppers" at Feinstein's/54 Below. Michael hit all the right notes & then some! From the minute the orchestra started, I knew I was in for a special night. From his vocal quality to the way he connects to the audience, Michael defines showman. Whether it's a big band number or a gentler, quieter piano only song, Michael reels you in making you want more. Michael Feinstein's "Showstoppers" plays Feinstein's/54 Below through 9/3!
Adam's Call: There are just four chances left to see, Red Bull Theater's "The Government Inspector," the funniest show Off-Broadway! I have seen this show twice and was doubled over in laughter both times. This show is truly an ensemble production! Everyone is given their moment to take the lead, but it's their combined talents that really make the laughter ensue! "The Government Inspector" plays at New World Stages NYC through 8/20 only!
Adam's Call: "A Very Sordid Wedding" Hands down the best part about this film was the way Del set it up. For those of us who were already fans of the "Sordid Lives" play/film/TV series, it's a real homecoming. For someone who has never seen anything "Sordid Lives," Del has perfectly outlined who everyone is, what their relationship is to one another, & a brief history of their storyline. Despite a few cast changes, everything I love about the "Sordid Lives" brand was still there!
Adam's Call: I can see clearly now that I attended Miss Richfield 1981's new show "2020 Vision" at The Laurie Beechman Theatre in NYC! Miss Richfield knows in this post-election world, we're all living in the unknown, fearful of what tomorrow brings, but she is here to help us make it through...with laughter! I have seen Miss Richfield several times, but "2020 Vision" really puts things in focus! With just one show left, tomorrow, Wednesday, 3/16, "2020 Vision" is the perfect show to see!
Adam's Call: Marta Sanders' "Follow Me" at The Laurie Beechman Theatre is the epitome of cabaret! The evening flew by just like a plane taking off for it's next destination. With just 3 shows left, February 11, 16, & 25 at 7pm, I highly encourage you to get tickets for Marta Sanders' "Follow Me" at The Laurie Beechman Theatre because Marta is one performer you'll want to follow for years to come!
Adam's Call: "Chicago: The Musical": Still Going Strong: The Tony Award winning revival of "Chicago: The Musical," celebrating 20 years on Broadway & starring former Spice Girl Mel B will "Razzle Dazzle" you, whether it's your first time seeing the show or your hundredth time!! After 20 years on Broadway, "Chicago: The Musical" still has that fresh, exciting feeling! So, "Tap Dance" your way over to The Ambassador Theatre to take in this classic show!
Adam's Call: I recently took in the world premiere of "Yours Unfaithfully" starring Tony nominee Max von Essen. "Yours Unfaithfully" takes a look at the life of a couple in an open marriage and the after effects of this decision. It may have been written in 1933, but it stands the test of time, still holding court in today's world. "Yours Unfaithfully" raises many questions about love, monogamy, and relationships. "Yours Unfaithfully" plays at The Beckett Theatre thru 2/18 only!
Adam's Call: For British satirist Melinda Hughes, the trip over to NYC from England was well worth it because her new cabaret show "Cheers Darling" is fantastic! What more can I say about Melinda's show? Just go see it, she's on the "right track baby!" Melinda has one more performance, tomorrow, Friday, 1/20 at 9:30pm at The Metropolitan Room in NYC!
Adam's Call: What an incredible night seeing Tracie Thoms make her Feinstein's/54 Below debut! She was on fire! From her opening number to her numerous standing ovations & super special surprise guest, the evening was everything I wanted & more! There's one more chance to catch Tracie's show, this Saturday, January 14 at 7pm at Feinstein's/54 Below!
Adam's Call: Andy Karl and Orfeh: "Legally Bound" at Feinstein's/54 Below: What an incredible evening I had at Feinstein's/54 Below seeing Broadway couple Andy Karl & Orfeh performing their final night of their new show "Legally Bound." It was an evening full of powerful voices, fun stories, & great songs!
Adam's Call: The New York Pops' "Make The Season Bright" was a starry night! This year's concert featured Tony nominees Liz & Ann Hampton Callaway along with recording artists Will & Anthony Nunziata, conducted by maestro Steven Reineke, & backed by The New York Pops/Essential Voices USA. This family affair was a spectacular evening!
Adam's Call: "The Bodyguard: The Musical" has found a way to make itself its own entity, while keeping all our favorite moments from the Oscar-nominated film that starred Whitney Houston & Kevin Costner. "The Bodyguard: The Musical" plays Paper Mill Playhouse in Millburn NJ through January 1, 2017 before departing on its US Tour!
